PAS is a serious pregnancy complication where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall and fails to detach normally after birth.
It can cause life-threatening maternal hemorrhage (severe bleeding) during attempts to remove the placenta, often requiring a hysterectomy.
The risk is highest in mothers who have both placenta previa (low placenta) and a history of one or more prior Caesarean sections.
It is diagnosed during second and third-trimester scans using specialized ultrasound parameters, and occasionally confirmed with pelvic MRI.

Our Abu Dhabi hub is at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road), a central location with dedicated on-site parking and step-free access. It is an easy drive from Khalifa City, Al Reem Island, Al Reef, Yas Island, Saadiyat and Mussafah, and roughly 60–75 minutes from Dubai via the E11 (Sheikh Zayed Road). Families travelling from Al Ain or the Western Region are seen by prior appointment so scans and consultations are completed in a single visit.
