TRANSPARENT DECISION SUPPORT

Clinical tools: methods, evidence & limitations

Understand the intended use, evidence, verification limits and development status of the fetus.ae professional workbenches before applying their outputs.

Developed by Dr. Ali Al-Ibrahim to support clinicians, these workbenches remain in beta and may contain errors. Outputs require clinical interpretation, source review and input checks. They do not replace the hospital’s protocol, professional judgement or specialist consultation.

What does verification establish?

Software checks can establish that a stated equation is implemented consistently or that invalid inputs are rejected. They do not automatically establish clinical predictive performance or suitability for the local population. Prospective validation and local calibration are different forms of evidence.

Before using an output

  • Check units, gestation and the permitted measurement range.
  • Review the model version, reference, assumptions and applicability displayed in the workbench.
  • Use the department-approved standard consistently and interpret the complete clinical assessment.
  • Do not enter patient names, identity numbers or other identifying information.
Tool-specific equations, references and limitations are displayed in the individual workbench pages and source panels. This index explains intended use and where to inspect the evidence; it is not a blanket clinical-validation certificate.

Phenomize Workbench

Examination-led fetal and postnatal phenotype workbench. Record targeted negatives, compare syndrome families, inspect source evidence, and identify the next useful assessment — with longitudinal history and EMR-ready outputs.

Sources & applicability

Inspect the references and calculation method or assessment pathway inside the workbench. Confirm that the case falls within the model’s scope; a screening result or risk score does not establish a diagnosis or an automatic management plan.
