Frequently Asked Questions

Clinical answers directly from our specialists to help prepare you for your appointment.

Fetal medicine specialists (perinatologists) focus on diagnosing and managing complications in the unborn baby and co-managing high-risk maternal medical conditions.

Obstetricians manage normal pregnancies and deliveries, while Fetal Medicine specialists undergo years of extra training to diagnose and treat complex diseases of the fetus.

You should see a specialist for detailed routine scans, if you have risk factors for genetic diseases, or if a complication is suspected.

Physicians can submit referrals and clinical reports directly through our secure online Physician Portal on fetus.ae.

Diagnostic ultrasound has an established safety record when performed for a clinical reason by trained practitioners using the lowest exposure needed to obtain the required information.

We offer NIPT, clinical carrier screening, chromosomal microarray, karyotyping, and fetal exome sequencing via amniocentesis or CVS.

Getting Here & Access

In Al Ain, we are based at Mediclinic Al Jowhara Hospital, a short drive from Al Jimi, Al Towiyya, Al Muwaiji, Al Mutaredh, Hili and Al Sarooj, with convenient parking. Al Ain families receive their scans, diagnostics and routine follow-up locally; the small number of highly specialised in-utero procedures are performed at our Abu Dhabi hub (about 90 minutes via the E22/Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road) with pre-operative and post-operative care kept close to home in Al Ain.

Insurance & Coverage

The Al Ain unit works with major UAE insurers including Daman (Thiqa and Enhanced), ADNIC, Nextcare, NAS and other networks. Because plans differ in coverage and pre-authorisation, our team verifies eligibility and secures approvals ahead of your visit. Self-pay options are available for those without applicable cover.
