WHO WE ARE

Subspecialty care for the pregnancies that need more.

An unexpected scan result can leave you with many questions. A maternal–fetal medicine specialist helps you understand the findings, decide what needs further investigation, and plan care with your obstetrician. We look after maternal health and fetal development in pregnancies that need specialist attention.

Our Mediclinic team provides specialist assessment and prenatal diagnosis in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. Amniocentesis, CVS, fetal blood sampling and fluid drainage are available in Al Ain. Other advanced fetal treatments and surgery are coordinated through Abu Dhabi.

REFERRAL INDICATIONS

When should you see Maternal Fetal Medicine?

Specialist review is recommended for pregnancies facing specific structural, genetic, maternal, or obstetric risks.

Abnormal ultrasound finding

If an ultrasound detects a potential anatomical, structural, or fluid abnormality, immediate subspecialist review is recommended.

High-risk NIPT or screening result

A higher-chance screening result is not a diagnosis. We explain what it means and discuss appropriate diagnostic options with you.

Twin pregnancy

Monochorionic and multiple pregnancies carry increased risks requiring expert ultrasound surveillance.

Suspected fetal growth restriction

Fetal growth falling below normal curves requires precise Doppler assessment of the placenta and fetal blood flow.

Placenta problem

Management and delivery planning for placenta previa, accreta spectrum, or vasa previa to minimize bleeding risks.

Need amniocentesis or CVS

Safe, expert performance of invasive prenatal diagnostic tests under continuous ultrasound guidance.

Maternal medical condition in pregnancy

Co-management of pregnancy for women with pre-existing heart, kidney, autoimmune, or diabetic conditions.

Need fetal therapy opinion

Consultation and planning for in-utero interventions such as laser ablation for TTTS or shunts for LUTO.
